The Great Spending Shift

Wonder what people are spending on during lockdown? The New York Times posted an interesting story recently showing how spending habits have changed over the past several weeks. The big winners โ€” as you can imagine โ€” are grocery stores ๐Ÿ›’ and online streaming companies ๐ŸŽฎ.

Weโ€™re eating differently. In past financial crises, restaurants and bars have been relatively untouched. Not so in this environment. Almost all of us are eating at home. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ To be fair, some Even what we buy has changed โ€” processed and canned foods have made a big comeback lately ๐Ÿฅซ.

Weโ€™re also playing differently. Digital entertainment โ€” especially gaming โ€” is on the rise ๐Ÿ‘พ. The interesting thing about gaming is that it enables us to engage with others while at the same time staying safely isolated. Digital movies, music and e-books are all on the rise as well ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฟ.

What about you โ€” how are you spending differently in these times? Let us know in the comments below or on social media.
